The Manager, Editing (English) is responsible for ensuring accuracy of information, adherence to house style, and enforcement of grammatical standards, as well as maintaining brand accuracy in all materials. The highest quality standards must be met under firm deadlines with a range of partners inside and outside the company.
The Manager, Editing (English) is comfortable with and capable of overseeing, assessing, and organizing the daily workload of a team of editors in a fast-paced work environment while being a key contributor.
What You Will Do
This role manages both people and products. The Manager, Editing (English) will dedicate 70% of their time to performing their primary job functions as an editor while dedicating 30% of their time to managerial duties such as project and people management, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and other duties as assigned.
- Manage the editorial activities of a team of editors working on diverse projects for multiple channels.
- Edit, proof, and review a variety of materials, such as templates, rulebooks, brand- and product-related text, press releases and other marketing materials, and more.
- Interact daily with other teams and departments in Seattle.
- Provide regular progress reports and updates to in-house management and stakeholders.
- Evaluate the performance of a team of editors.
- Interview and hire editors on an as-needed basis.
What You Will Bring
- Six years of editing experience publishing under regular deadlines, and the demonstrated ability to handle simultaneous tasks in an organized manner
- 1 year of managerial experience
- Superior linguistic skills and a focused eye for detail
- Excellent communication and project management skills, including the proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects
- Experience in working with a team of editors and localization professionals in multiple languages
- Demonstrated experience using MS Word, Excel, and specialized technical programs, plus a ready facility with learning new tools
- Adaptive skills for working in an environment that features tight deadlines and shifting schedules
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Previous experience in the gaming industry a plus
