About the role
The finance team is looking to grow and with this early mover advantage you will be able to help set things up in the best way possible, help create processes and drive the way we do things.
We need a strong Management Accountant, who is comfortable owning the ledgers for our Headquarters entities, with significant focus on our AR and AP. We are keen to meet someone who loves accounting and being involved in month end! As well as day to day finance, as a group we are always looking to improve processes, making them easier and more efficient for the team and the business, and we want someone who not only can lead on that for the Headquarters accounting and linked operations, but is enthused and motivated at the prospect.
This role will report to the Finance Director but also work directly with CFO and broader finance team, as well as the wider Kepler team and studios. This will suit someone who wants to get stuck in and get involved with a company with set strategic aims in a relatively tight timeframe, do a bit of everything, but be able to ask for help or advice when needed.
What you will do:
- Run and take ownership of the day-to-day responsibilities of the finance team from an accounting perspective (including AR and AP ledgers);
- Significant involvement in month end, including preparing month end journal for key areas of the business, as well as preparing and reviewing monthly balance sheet reconciliations;
- Reconciliation and actioning timely outgoing payments to suppliers, as well as ensuring timely receipts from our partners and gaming platforms;
- Responsibility for inter-company transactions, including calculations, postings and invoices;
- Working with those working on our apprenticeship scheme working in the finance rotation, helping to support their training and development, as well as guiding their workload;
- Assist with the preparation of UK and international payroll;
- Assist with the year end statutory audit;
- Preparation of the quarterly VAT return;
- Driving automation and improvement in reporting, processes and systems.
- Assist with periodic financial results to the Board of Directors including month-end variance analysis to plan development of business model; and
- Provide on-going support to the CFO and the other key stakeholders in the business across a wide variety of internal projects and on-going accounting & operational initiatives.
What we're looking for:
- Qualified or part-qualified Management Accountant (CIMA or equivalent) with experience in the preparation of financial statements and technical accounting;
- Management level finance experience - well-versed in all aspects of financial management ranging from simple accounting to investment transactions and foreign currency transactions;
- Experience of working with Auditors to complete statutory audits;
- Confident user of accounting software (preferably Netsuite) with an ability to learn new systems quickly along with high Microsoft Excel knowledge;
- Strong knowledge of accounting policies and IFRS;
- Able to manage conflicting priorities and tight deadlines to ensure key deliverables are met; meets deadlines and is reliable;
- Communicate issues succinctly and in a timely manner. Proactively manage issues before they become problems;
- Detail oriented with the ability to keep focused on the big picture;
- Strong verbal and written communications skills;
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic and committed to seeing tasks through to completion;
- Able to develop key relationships across all functions throughout the company;
- Ability to take full ownership of projects within a small team; and
- Experience and interest in the video games industry is an advantage but in no way mandatory.
