Gearbox Entertainment is looking for an Intern to join the Licensing team! In this role, you will work with both external partners and internal teams on various products based on Gearbox’s exciting IPs, such as Borderlands, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands , Duke Nukem , Homeworld , and more! You will also acquire valuable experience, expand your skillset, and learn what it’s like to work at a premier, AAA videogame development company.

Our intern positions are only open to current or graduating students.

Responsibilities:

  • Track approval tasks and project submissions for both licensed products and ecommerce projects
  • Take submissions through the feedback and approval pipeline – getting feedback from the proper stakeholders, reconciling that feedback, and delivering notes to the licensees/ partners clearly and professionally
  • Help organize and deliver assets – both in-game and 2D – to licensees
  • Compile and document various information or processes as needed
  • Keep stakeholders on all projects aware of upcoming milestones
  • Organize and catalog samples and archives
  • Learn the rules of style guides and explain those rules to others; answer questions on the guides

Qualifications:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Google Sheets
  • Good work ethic and willingness to work, but the ability to find the most efficient way to do that work
  • Flexibility to carry out tasks with specific instructions when required or to complete tasks independently
  • Ability to quickly learn new skills and tools (such as Basecamp, JIRA, Miro, Trello, simple editor tasks, basics of Adobe software, etc.)
  • The ability to communicate, compromise, and be a team player that people want to work with – whether you are delivering good news or bad
  • General interest in licensed toys, apparel, or collectibles

Bonus Points For:

  • Basic familiarity with the Borderlands franchise
  • Basic familiarity with the video game industry
  • Basic Photoshop/Adobe ability (cropping images, turning layers on and off, pulling still frames from video, etc)
  • Some exposure to Unreal editor (or similar)
  • Experience with in-game video capture tools
  • Experience with any of the following: JIRA or a similar task database, Confluence, Photoshop, Illustrator, DocuSign, Bridge, Perforce, Maya
  • General sense for art/design – are you familiar with design terms and names of particular visual styles? Can you choose a Pantone to match a particular color? Can you group things that are stylistically similar?
