Level Producer

Ascendant Studios is hiring a Producer to take point on day-to-day production for level teams, both internally and with external production partners. Our ideal candidate has led production on interdisciplinary level teams for AAA projects, shepherding levels from conception to ship.
This is a full time position. We are all currently working remotely due to Covid-19, but once we return the position may either be based in our office in San Rafael, CA, or remain fully remote. Remote candidates must be able to work within the Pacific time zone.
What you'll do:
- Schedule and run level-team related meetings, including weekly level reviews, daily standups, and others as needed
- Take notes during meetings and ensure that action items are completed
- Work with team leads and individual level designers, level artists, and other contributors to the level creation process to surface concerns and prevent issues before they occur
- Identify and address blockers and bottlenecks to the level production process
- Communicate development status to stakeholders
- Create and maintain realistic schedules for level development
- Resolve conflicts between schedule, complexity, and team goals
Who you are:
- 3+ years of experience in a production role in the video games industry managing interdisciplinary teams. Commitment to building and maintaining a healthy schedule and collaborative, friendly team culture.
- Experience as a producer for, or contributor to, creation of levels for a high fidelity 3D shooter, action, or adventure title.
- Ability to effectively communicate goals, requirements, and dependencies between different departments inside and outside the company
- Understanding of level production pipelines and dependencies
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, organization, and multitasking ability.
- Comfortable with Google suite or MS Office, project management software (Jira, TeamGantt) and version control (Perforce)
Bonus points:
- Preference for candidates who have experience on one project through a full development cycle.
- Experience creating or managing level creation on a AAA team
- Worked with distributed teams and co-dev partners in both agile and waterfall methodologies
- Previous work as a level designer, environment artist, or other in-engine role involved in the level pipeline
- Familiarity with Unreal Engine 4
