Level Designer [Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora]

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora™ is a first person, action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment – a Ubisoft studio in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney. Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open world experience.
As a Level Designer at Massive Entertainment, you’ll utilize gameplay mechanics, narrative beats, and artistic direction to create fun levels for our players to solve and accomplish.
We're offering a permanent position in Malmö, Sweden, with the flexibility to work partially from home (up to two days a week) under our Flexible Workplace Policy. Please apply using English, our company's primary language.
What you'll do
- Conceptualizing, designing, building, and scripting bespoke levels;
- Designing and implementing areas of the game including layout, character placement, objectives, and other gameplay-related entities;
- Collaborating with the Creative Director and Lead Designers to contribute engaging ideas towards all aspects of game design;
- Collaborating with other Level Designers to define and refine level layouts, creating a fun, satisfying, and polished level design flow;
- Working closely with the narrative and art departments to conceive and design environments that are innovative and visually impressive;
- Collaborating with the engineering team to develop and enhance the development of tools and processes used in building our levels
Qualifications
What you'll bring
You are an empathic and a good communicator in English (our company language), which allows you to clearly outline your ideas, collaborate with your peers, and develop strong relationships.
Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:
- Proven professional experience with Level Design within a major game production(s)
- Extensive Level Design knowledge and principles, incorporating AAA open-world games;
- Ability to design game levels utilizing 3D tools (e.g. Unreal, Maya, 3D’s Max, Hammer, Radiant or similar 3D editors), and to AAA quality;
- Previous experience with scripting tools (e.g. Kismet/Blueprints, Bolt, and/or Snowdrop);
- A degree in Game/Level Design, a similar field, or equivalent work experience.
