Position Overview
Activision Blizzard is looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to support its operation in Japan and South Korea. This person will support Japanese Business teams mainly. The ideal candidate is a legal counsel with in-depth legal knowle dge and experience focusing on regulations governing the gaming industry, esports, personal data protection, and e-commerce. This position is located in Seoul. This person will report to Legal Director in Korea while working as part of Blizzard’s globa l Legal team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice and hands-on legal support for Activision Blizzard’s publishing operations, esports, and OWL
- Draft, structure, negotiate, review, and advise on agreements and business commitments (including distri bution agreements, license agreements, IT licenses and service agreements and tournament agreements)
- Research and advise business teams and game development teams on compliance requirements
- Research, manage and resolve pending or threatened disputes betwee n Blizzard Entertainment and other parties
- Assist with and manage other duties and special projects as requested by the Legal Director
- Work with the global Legal Team and External Affairs to protect the interests of Activision Blizzard and establish best p ractices for the department
- Interact with government authorities when they are conducting investigations or audits
Requirements:
- Bar membership in one jurisdiction at least
- Graduated from a law school in Japan OR equivalent legal knowledge and experienc e regarding Japanese laws, regulations and legal system
- Native or near-native fluency in English and Japanese
- 5-10 years of experience at a private law firm and/or at a multi-national corporation.
- Multicultural interpersonal skills
- Extensive knowledge and experience regarding e-commerce, privacy, game and broadcast-related regula t ions
- A bility to communicate effectively across various business functions and territories and an aptitude for working with people with diverse backgrounds and personalities at all levels of an organization
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with accuracy, reliability, and pride in work product, under deadline pressure
Plus e s:
- Korean language skill and Gaming industry knowledge will be plus
