About the role:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead VFX Artist to join our team and help establish and oversee this new department. As the Lead VFX Artist, you will be based in the UK, working closely with our UK-based clients and managing the VFX team remotely.

Responsibilities

1. Team Setup and Management:
   • Collaborate with senior management to establish and build a new VFX team in India, ensuring the recruitment and selection of skilled artists.
   • Set clear goals and objectives for the VFX team and provide ongoing mentorship and guidance to team members.
   • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting creativity, innovation, and professional growth within the team.
   • Effectively manage the performance, productivity, and workload distribution of the VFX team, ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
2. Project Planning and Execution:
   • Collaborate with clients and project managers to understand project requirements, objectives, and constraints.
   • Work with the Project Managers to develop VFX production plans, including resource allocation, task assignment, and production schedules.
   • Oversee the creation and implementation of VFX assets, ensuring they meet the technical and artistic requirements of each project.
   • Provide hands-on support and assistance to the VFX team during production, troubleshooting technical issues, and offering creative solutions.
   • Conduct regular reviews and quality checks of VFX assets to maintain the highest standards of visual quality.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
   • Work closely with the UK-based clients, understanding their vision and expectations, and providing regular updates on project progress.
   • Act as the primary point of contact between the UK-based clients and the India-based VFX team, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
4. Research and Development:
   • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, techniques, and tools related to VFX in video games.
   • Lead the research and development efforts within the VFX team, exploring new technologies and workflows to enhance the quality and efficiency of VFX production.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a VFX Artist in the video game industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing high-quality VFX work.
• Previous experience in a leadership or management role, overseeing a team of artists.
• Excellent knowledge of VFX software such as Autodesk Maya, Houdini, and Adobe After Effects.
• Proficient in real-time VFX techniques, particle systems, shaders, and rendering.
• Strong understanding of art and animation principles, color theory, and composition.
• Familiarity with game engines, such as Unity or Unreal Engine, and their integration with VFX.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear feedback and guidance to team members.
• Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work effectively in a remote team environment.
