Lead UX Designer (Multiplayer Action)

A visionary game development studio founded in 2012, Firesprite builds innovative showcase titles for PlayStation platforms as part of the PlayStation Studios family.
Would you enjoy the freedom to create AAA games working from anywhere in the UK, including our Liverpool studio?
We are looking for an experienced UX Lead join our team in the development of a ‘AAA’ multiplayer action title, and to develop and own UX design / prototypes and user research to ensure an intuitive, flattering, seamless user experience. This is the perfect opportunity for an experienced UX Lead with experience creating and communicating video game user experiences, and the knowledge, ambition, and impeccable standards to deliver their career-best work. You will work with Programmers, 3D Artists, Animators, UI Artists, Game Designers and Sound Designers to help shape an exciting blockbuster title in active development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assure that game information is well conveyed through the various user interfaces and feedback to guarantee optimal accessibility and fluidity of the game
- Advise and work closely with game designers to determine the best controls and inputs to support game features for a fluid and consistent player experience
- Create iterative user-centred prototyping
- Respond appropriately to user sentiment and analytics
- Provide programmers with clear specifications of UI/UX components
- Advise and mentor team members
- Ensure UX and quality across all platforms and features
Requirements
- Relevant experience on at least two AAA titles
- A solid grasp of user-centred design (UCD), usability, planning and conducting user research, rapid prototyping, user testing, multivariate (A/B) testing and accessibility
- Understanding and experience of multiplayer games as a service and live operations
- An understanding of control schemes, ergonomics, and haptic feedback
- Experience of menu, front-end, HUD and other UI design
- Ability to iterate UX design efficiently
- Ability to work effectively in a distributed development team
- A passion for UX and video games
- Console development and gaming experience
Additional or Desired Skills:
- Experience with UE4 / UE5
- Knowledge of scripting language
