Lead Technical Product Manager, Platform

Are you a Lead or Senior Technical Product Manager that has experience managing technical platforms and products? Are you a Product Manager with a computer science background interested in a high-impact strategic and operational product management role within a mobile gaming startup?

Scopely is the leading mobile gaming startup in LA and we are looking for a Lead Technical Product Manager to join our team. You should have solid product management experience, understanding of technical products like APIs and Platforms, and have strong operational project management experience.

As the platform Lead Technical Product Manager at Scopely, you will oversee product and platform strategy for a gaming platform that powers Scopely’s product slate. The platform has many customers such as our players, developers, product managers, customer service, liveops managers and it will be your responsibility to address the needs of all these groups and build a cohesive strategy that scales with the business. Scopely is a matrix organization, and this role will report indirectly into the CTO and cross-functional product leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own product and platform strategy for a gaming platform that powers Scopely’s mobile gaming business
• Set direction for and work closely with a team of world-class engineers who are building the gaming platform that will power our entire upcoming product slate and studio ecosystem
• Gather requirements from both sides of the aisle: the technical customers of the platform and the non-technical product customers of the platform
• Institute governance controls for a platform used by a majority of Scopely’s 2nd party studios
• Own the product rituals & processes for the platform, including the roadmap process, backlog prioritization, spec & release process, communications process, and feedback process.
• Mature and improve our platform documentation, education, training and onboarding.
• Organize feedback, roadmap and strategy session across multiple studios
• Build a data-driven product culture that can optimize how we best leverage the platform for Scopely’s growth

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or other technical field.
• Experience with technical products such as APIs, Platforms, SAAS business
• Experience owning and operating a product roadmap and strategy
• Proven ability to partner with senior engineering and product leaders
• Excellent communication skills, written and oral
• Ability to work with B2B customers in terms of gathering requirements, feedback and disseminating progress and status
• Ability to “zoom in” and “zoom out”, to be able to write a detailed spec but also a high-level multi-year roadmap. Be comfortable with the forest and the trees.
