What You'll Do
We are seeking an experienced Lead System Programmer to direct the core technical approach for a main internal project in the Fortnite ecosystem. They will be responsible for driving the core programming team, collaborating and iterating between programmers, designers, and artists. They will play a critical role in driving future core systems within the Fortnite ecosystem.
In this role, you will
- Mentor and coach a team of system engineers, and be the primary hub of communication and information for other disciplines
- Distill high-level feature requests into meaningful, actionable work items, and be able to delegate to the team effectively
- Deliver core system features in an efficient and timely manner, and speak up when the team is over or under-scoped
- Lead the vision for different systems and features, and propose/review architecture, systems, and technical approaches to ensure that they satisfy both the surface-level and deeper, programming-specific requirements
- Jump in and participate in writing code when necessary
What we're looking for
- Experience developing games professionally, and shipping AAA titles (on multiple platforms preferred)
- Experience leading a team of system programmers within a shipped AAA titles
- Strong analytical abilities with creative problem-solving skills, excelling in thinking innovatively and finding unique solutions
- Strong C++ skills and the ability to code and architect core systems and tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working on a live service game
- Experience with Unreal Engine 5
This role is open to multiple locations in North America (including CA).
Pay Transparency Information
The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
California Base Pay Range
$190,010 — $278,682 USD
