What We Do
Operating from our newly constructed studio in Manchester, we will host Epic’s internal scanning and facial mocap solutions, working with our clients and contribute to MetaHuman.
What You'll Do
We are looking for a lead scan and motion capture technician to join our new team and studio in Manchester. You’ll join at ground level to set up capture workflows and ramp up to production capacity. You will work and coordinate with a team of technicians on newly deployed facial, body scanners and HMCs to ensure assets are captured at the highest quality. The type of shoots include Epic special projects, production of digital humans, and assets for internal Epic projects of higher complexity. Besides the scanning and mocap sessions there are going to be upgrade milestones for the operating systems that are in use, which need to be coordinated with the rest of the team.
In This Role You Will
- Assemble, configure and maintain scanners
- Help with setting up and fine tune lighting, cameras and live feeds
- Tier-1 support to troubleshoot hardware errors and issues
- Identify equipment defects and abnormal operating conditions
- Assist in documentation and testing for remote teams
- Daily tasks include:
- Operate the systems during production shoots
- Support scanning and HMC mocap sessions
- Transfer & backup captures
- Meeting delivery deadlines of sending data to the team
- Help with exporting data containing the raw files from scanners and HMC systems, check exported data, label and log them ensuring there is not data loss or corruption - reporting any problems to the appropriate member of staff
- Create and maintain an organized log of who has received what data/images and what copies of the data exist, delete & archive when not required
- Lead and coordinate other scanning and HMC team members at the Manchester scanning and mocap facility, as well as communicate with other global teams about milestones and goals
- Distribute and communicate knowledge, news and timelines amongst team members
What We're Looking For
- Experienced using camera & audio equipment
- A background working with Maya and Nuke
- Extensive experience of Photogrammetry, Agisoft and Reality Capture
- An understanding of IT infrastructure for machine vision camera capture
- Production knowledge of Mocap sessions
- Understanding of audio and video, including digital technologies and formats, post production processes relating to ingest & data transfer
- Knowledge of Unreal Engine is a plus
- Excellent communication skills
