The lead of QA defines and drives strategies and goals for the entire QA department as well as helping to appoint company goals from a QA perspective. This person is ultimately responsible for ensuring and improving the overall quality and will provide regular direction, mentoring and coaching to the QA staff across all studios.Responsibilities
- Establish and improve adaptive and efficient QA strategies, processes and workflows for the entire department
- Define the QA standards and employing coherent metrics
- Define and maintain of QA job roles, levels and career paths, as well as QA related assessment procedure
- Support line managers with job interviews, trainings and performance evaluations of all QA employees
- Evaluate QA needs across the game teams and the Central QA team, assist with job advertisement, recruiting and onboarding of staff
- Responsible for planning and maintaining the budgets of both, QA Management and Central QA
- Determine and manage risks, identifying impediments and providing according solutions in a timely manner
- Act as the primary contact person and escalation point for all matters related to QA across the company, offering expertise and consultancy on QA and personnel-related topics for Line Managers and QA staf
- Evangelize QA within the company, representing the department towards different stakeholders and teams ensuring that QA’s vision is understood and implemented correctly
- Build and foster collaboration with the GameOps teams and other departments to identify synergies and to tap their full potential
- Build and maintain a network of external partners, assist Dev teams with coordination of outsourced testing
- Research, evaluate and integrate QA trends and industry recognized best practices into the Bigpoint QA environment
- Maintain a high level of transparency by regularly creating and circulating reports to different stakeholders.
Requirements
- University degree in the fields of Computer Science, Game Design or comparable qualification is a plus
- 6+ years’ work experience in a QA management or leadership position
- Experienced with game testing practices, conventions and procedures in order to coach teams how to maintain an adaptive QA approach according to project requirements
- Experienced in managing and communicating with different Stakeholders throughout all hierarchy levels
- Excellent understanding of software development processes, experienced with agile project management methods
- Familiar with a wide range of QA tools, like bug trackers, test management applications and automation tools
- Experienced in collaborating with in- and outsourced QA as well as with other external partners
- ISTQB Certified Test Manager is a plus
- Vision, drive and passion. Thorough and solution-oriented approach of working paired with the ability to think "outside the box”
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, able to motivate teams and individuals, encourage ownership, recognize good talent and bring out the best of each employee
- Proactive and stress-resistant, excellent organizational skills combined with the ability to work under constantly changing conditions and tight deadlines
- Passion for games
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
