As a Lead Programmer at Tarsier, you are responsible for motivating, coaching and developing a small team of programmers. You tend to anticipate challenges before they come apparent and are able to provide solutions both on a technical and interpersonal level. You care about the people you work with and want to make them excel at whatever they do, providing them with support and guidance as they need it.

You are able to talk about various aspects of game development and reason with fellow developers from different disciplines about technical challenges and their solutions, keeping in mind the bigger picture of the entire code base and the game’s needs. You care about the game and actively help develop the team’s ideas into playable mechanics, features and systems.

Lead Programmer responsibilities include:

  • Provide regular feedback to programmers on the quality of technical solutions
  • Organize one-on-ones with programmers on your team
  • Ensure the quality of code reviews among the team members
  • Identify risks and help find solutions to resolve upcoming challenges
  • Work with other leads to ensure we meet the technical needs of the project
  • Actively share your ideas, knowledge and passion for the games we make
  • Be a positive and professional role model to your team
  • Collaborate with the technical director and the team to maintain, communicate and keep up with the technical roadmap.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years professional experience as a programmer
  • Shipped one or more games for PC or current generation consoles
  • Solid knowledge of C++ and Unreal Engine 4
  • You care about people
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of games and games development
  • Able to work well in a multidisciplinary and iterative environment
  • Driven, self-motivated and self-aware
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal

Nice to have's:

  • Memory management, CPU & GPU optimization
  • Developed Atmospheric or Action Adventure games
  • Experience working with AI
  • Experience with animation programming
  • Other game engine experience
  • Experience with additional middleware systems
