Your Daily Quest
Working closely with the Producer of Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad, you will help defining the project’s technical orientation.
You will be responsible for the architecture, the production and the implementation of all the Game features on the project. With strong management and technical skills, you will organize the production for the Programming team (Gameplay, UI, 3D, Rendering and mobile programming…), distribute the tasks and help your people communicate within the studio.
As a Lead Programmer, you will :
- Lead and manage a team of 10+ mobile programmers (gameplay, 3D, UI…) at technical and personnal level and unite them around the game’s creative vision;
- Allocate and prioritize the tasks for your team, follow and evaluate their work;
- Construct a team spirit and encourage creativity within your team;
- Be in charge of budgeting of the programming team;
- Conduct performance evaluations, carry out employee review, identify strength, weakness and training needs of programmers;
- Mentor junior programmers in the team and plan their skill development;
- Determine the technical needs for the team to work on a project;
- Help the team with debugging and optimizing the code;
- Ensure that the team writes and updates a proper technical documentation throughout the development of the project;
- Define and ensure that our coding standards and best practices are followed within the gameplay programming team;
- Share information and knowledge in your domain of expertise.
As a key technical adviser for the project, you will :
- Communicate and collaborate on a daily basis with the Core Team, along with other squads and parties involved (producers, artists, designers, marketing, BI, community management…) : in this role, you will sit across the intersection of design, engineering, animation, audio and user experience, so we expect from you to be fluent across all of these disciplines;
- Be a real interface between, the production teams involved in the game and technology teams, you will also ensure a good flow of information and coordination with all teams;
- Have to understand and challenge the game design intentions into gameplay features that will improve the playability and the credibility of the game as well as the comfort of our players;
- Identify risks and opportunities presented during the development of games, providing solutions to resolve potentially complex problems;
- Conduct regular and constructive code reviews : identify poorly coded / implemented systems and restructure existing code to make it more efficient;
- Tackle complex technical problems while keeping performance optimization in mind;
- Supporting the Producer in any ad hoc tasks and duties;
- Keep up to date with industry advancements and technologies.
Qualifications
Your Skills
- Degree in software engineering, computer science or equivalent;
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in programming (gameplay, UI, 3D, rendering or generalist) with a first managerial experience;
- Strong 3D Math skills with expert C# experience;
- Strong knowledge of Unity;
- Strong understanding of current data structures, algorithms and methodologies;
- Strong knowledge of most areas of game development (gameplay, AI, camera, animation, rendering, physics, online, tools, UI, audio) with expertise in at least 1 area;
- In-depth knowledge of different software development methods such as Test Driven Development, Unit Testing, Agile, etc;
- Good knowledge of continuous integration (Jenkins), automated testing and optimization on Mobile platforms;
- Knowledge of Jira and Atlassian;
- Comfortable working in an Agile and iterative work environment;
- Good oral and written English communication skills;
- Excellent organizational communication and management skills such as ability to review, evaluate and qualify technical skills and good time-management skills;
- Ability to show attentiveness, empathy and integrity with your team;
- Ability to mentor, coach and develop technical staff;
- Self-motivated and problem solving oriented;
- Desire to grow and seek continuous improvement;
- Passion for the video game industry.
