InXile Entertainment is looking for a talented, enthusiastic Lead Gameplay Engineer to help drive the vision for the studio’s next-generation action role-playing game. Working closely with the Lead Combat Designer, the ideal candidate will draw upon their past experience to help develop the core action gameplay mechanics for our game.
Responsibilities
- Work hand in hand with the Lead Combat designer to bring their vision to life
- Architect, implement, and support new first person shooter gameplay features
- Tackle large areas of uncertainty, creating new technology or drawing upon other examples to achieve a truly next-generation combat experience
- Work with design team to evaluate workflows, establish best practices, and identify areas for improvements
- Set the bar for coding practices and excellence
- Lead, mentor, train, and hire a team of gameplay engineers
- Ensure team adheres to established standards and maintains well written, performant, and maintainable code
- Work closely with production and leadership teams to prioritize work and track progress against development schedule
Requirements
- Shipped at least one AAA game as a senior or lead engineer
- Expert understanding of C++
- Strong communication skills and a passion for mentoring other developers
- Advanced understanding of artist, designer, and engineer development pipelines
- Previous mentoring or leadership experience, including giving feedback to fellow engineers, helping them grow
Plusses
- Prior experience working on a first person shooter
- Professional experience using Unreal Engine 4
- AI Programming experience
- Experience with performance analysis and code optimization
- Previously shipped console games
- Degree in Software Engineering or related field
- Passion for RPGs
