Lead Gameplay Designer – New IP

Creative Assembly’s award-winning team behind Alien: Isolation are exploring new frontiers with a brand-new and exciting First-Person Shooter IP.
This is an excellent opportunity for a developer looking for career progression or a new challenge to join our project as Lead Gameplay Designer to work with our talented design team at our studio in Horsham, based in the heart of Sussex, England.
In this exciting role, you will bring all your knowledge and experience to be able to make a real impact in our game by delivering high quality second to second gameplay and combat. This will be achieved by collaborating and creating with our talented and passionate team, developing an innovative brand-new IP.
This role would suit a passionate, expert Designer with great attention to detail who enjoys being 'hands-on' to improve the feel of the game whilst mentoring the team and sharing your experience with them.
Key Responsibilities
As Lead Gameplay Designer on this new and exciting project, you will own the delivery of core gameplay features making sure we are delivering a great second to second experience. You will lead a multi-discipline team in delivering a world class combat experience in an innovative multiplayer FPS. In this role, you will also communicate and collaborate closely with the project's creative leaders to effectively deliver on the vision of the game. As a Lead on the project, you would have the added responsibility of leading and developing designers within your team.
On a day to day basis, you will:
- Be the owner of the second to second gameplay experience: gunplay, movement, and supporting combat features.
- Continuously look to improve gameplay, processes, and techniques on the project
- Supervise the balancing of the second to second loop of the game, looking at skill ceilings, complexity, and challenges.
- Oversee your teams work, give feedback, set goals and career development pathways.
- Share regular updates with the varying development disciplines across team highlighting when key achievements are identified and raise any issues
As well as working within your own area of the project, you will work closely with Level Design, Animation, Art, Audio and our Production Leads. Knowledge, Skill and Experience
Essential
- Experience working on second to second gameplay (combat, gunplay, movement, control) in FPS or TPS games
- Solid AAA games experience particularly in feature ownership
- Leadership skills in leading and mentoring designers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to produce documentation and design
- Demonstrated ability to give effective critiques and take feedback for improvement
Desirable
- Experience of using UE4 in development
