Lead Game Designer

We’re excited to be opening a new, full-time, permanent role on a new project at our rapidly growing Rebellion North studio. This is a rare opportunity to shape a major game from its inception and to contribute to the direction of a design team.

Nestling in the heart of West Yorkshire, Rebellion North is based in the historic market town of Ossett, near Leeds. With great travel links to Manchester, Sheffield and York, our newest studio is ideally placed to access fabulous walking and cycling trails in our beautiful countryside.

The Lead Designer’s responsibilities will include:

• Planning, managing and guiding the work of the game design team.
• Collaborating with Head of Creative, Designers, Programmers and Producers to deliver a shared creative vision.
• Understanding and refining the game design over the lifetime of the project.
• Maintaining style guides and consistent gameplay languages across the game.
• Liaising with other disciplines to synchronise design with all areas of the development process.
• Being an active mentor and role model for the design team.
• Encouraging an atmosphere of collective creativity and enthusiasm within the whole team.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• Completed at least one end to end game development cycle.
• Demonstrable experience of having led and managed a team of designers.
• Expert knowledge of a range of design tools and game engines.

Some desirable extras:

• Experience with rapid prototyping and a strong knowledge of any applicable tools.
• Experience or demonstrable knowledge of sports game design and team AI design.
• Experience or demonstrable knowledge of ‘Games as a service’ design demands.
