Lead Character Artist

Working closely with our colleagues at Bad Robot Productions, our projects unite our extensive network of games, TV, and film industry talent to create original IPs, expansive worlds and tell new stories across all media platforms which are as fun to watch as they are to play.
Bad Robot Games is looking for a Lead Character Artist to drive character and creation on our next IP. Working with our Art Director and Art Manager you will be responsible for creating character and creature art to a high quality bar, using next generation tools and techniques, and making sure our internal and external teams are reaching the same high standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the character art team to create breathtaking characters and creatures using next generation techniques that fit with our art style.
- Provide artistic and technical direction to our internal and external teams.
- Work closely with animation, tech art and rigging to make sure character art meets the technical requirements for the game.
- Work with our concept artists and art director to create beautiful characters and creatures, using next generation creation techniques.
- Collaborate with directors, art managers, design teams, and production to define strong plans and processes, and accomplish the strategic goals of the character art team.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 5 years of experience creating character art to a high standard.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively convey artistic vision, feedback, and technical requirements to internal and external teams.
- Up-to-date knowledge of character and creature creation, from high-resolution sculpting all the way through to the pipeline to game models, materials, and textures in a PBR pipeline (Maya, Zbrush, Marvelous Designer, Xgen).
- Experience with live service games.
- A portfolio that demonstrates strong anatomical knowledge.
- Adaptability and desire to work hands on with a small team.
- All of our roles require up to 10% air travel. Examples include Studio/Team Offsites, Team/Studio Events, etc.
BONUSES
- An up-to-date knowledge of content workflows for Unreal 5.
- Knowledge of Unreal shader creation.
- Shipped at least one AAA title as a lead character artist.
- Online multiplayer FPS game development experience.
Annual Salary Range: $140,000 - $150,000
Our ranges are based on California market rate regardless of work location in the US.
