Lead Audio Programmer

Gearbox Software is looking for a full-time, veteran software engineer to fill a Lead Audio Programmer role on our development team. This role will help establish Gearbox Entertainment as an industry leader in interactive audio by building new standards and tools, all while growing and managing a world-class team . Qualified applicants will meet the following requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide vision for the future technical direction of audio
  • Contribute to the overall technical direction of the project by participating in architectural design sessions and code reviews
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and other team members to prototype and implement audio features (audio-related gameplay systems, audio asset pipelines, audio effect and mix, etc.)
  • Support product performance goals by architecting and implementing systems with performance in mind
  • Directly manage Audio Programming team members and their development needs
  • Fix bugs and optimize code
  • Implement appropriate testing and debugging support

Qualifications:

  • 7-10+ years game industry experience
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with designers and programmers
  • Independent and self-motivated
  • Very strong C / C++ design and coding experience in a multithreaded codebase
  • Experience with developing and profiling on console platforms
  • Excellent math skills

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • Shipped titles on multiple platforms
  • Experience with Wwise
  • Experience with audio filter design, FFT, sound synthesis and effects
  • Knowledge of acoustics
  • Knowledge of music theory
