Are you an artist that looks to give feedback and develop artists creating painted, stylized, fantasy 3D video game art? We are looking for you!
The ideal Lead Artist can either be 3D character or 3D environment focused. Ideally, you will be able to float between either discipline. Your focus is to build a mix of architecture, trees, props, new characters, creatures, armor sets, or weapons to the world of Azeroth. You are an exceptional modeler and texture painter rolled into one. As gate keeper for a World of Warcraft art, you are responsible for helping a team translating ideas and concepts into 3D in-game assets. You also must have some experience in leadership or mentoring artists and the creative thinking to fill in the gaps and interpret areas that may not have specific concept art.
DAY TO DAY TASKS
- Create benchmark assets in any combination of the following 3D assets:
- Environment assets including architecture, natural elements, trees, rocks, props, to name a few.
- Creatures, weapons, mounts, among other assets.
- Hand paint textures in the World of Warcraft style.
- Create assets that fit within the World of Warcraft style.
- Take visual feedback and able to help others implement it.
- Communicate with Art leadership, Production, Art Management, and other departments.
YOUR BACKGROUND
- Some experience in game development leadership.
- Experience creating characters, props, weapons, architecture, or other assets.
- An exceptional understanding of art principals as they apply to 3D video game art creation.
- Excellent at setting a vision.
- Great follow through and takes initiative to solve problems.
- Software experience such as 3ds Max and Photoshop.
