Lead Architect

Description

This individual will be the Lead Architect on the team responsible for the software architecture behind one of the largest social casino games in the world. This individual will be tasked with owning our technical preproduction process, capturing and organizing feedback from all engineers in the organization, and advocating for quality and consistency throughout the development process. Strong analytical skills are required, as software implementations will need to consider our software architecture, data design, and rollout strategies.

SciPlay currently offers nine core games, including social casino games Jackpot Party Casino, Gold Fish Casino Slots, Hot Shot Casino and Quick Hit Slots, and casual games MONOPOLY Slots, Bingo Showdown, 88 Fortunes Slots, Backgammon Live, and Solitaire Pet Adventure with offices all over the world!

Looking for someone to join us onsite in either Austin,TX or Cedar Falls, IA!

Essential Job Functions:

• Leads a team of architects that provide value to the entire engineering organization
• Ensure all engineering teams are developing high-quality software design and architecture
• Evaluates, refines, and documents engineering processes
• Capture and refine tech debt, tech improvements, and suggestions from the engineering team
• Owns the technical preproduction process to ensure product designs are consumable by the team
• Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle
• Participate in engineering code reviews and improve code review processes
• Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to fix and improve products
• Advocate for observable code and systems and create plans to implement them
• Ensure software does not become obsolete or unsupported

Requirements

Education:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, Statistics or relevant area or equivalent experience

Required Experience:

· 5+ years of software experience

· 3+ years of experience developing and operating software for a live client / server product

· Familiarity with Git, SVN or other version control software

Preferred Experience:

· Game development highly preferred

· Regulated industries

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Proven experience as a Senior-level Engineer and/or leader in software
• Extensive experience in software development, scripting and project management
• Experience using system monitoring tools (e.g. Sentry, New Relic)
• Experience with multiple forms of automated testing (e.g. unit, integration, endpoint)
• Able to utilize the following programming languages day-to-day: C#, PHP and JavaScript
• In-depth knowledge of relational databases (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, DynamoDB, Couchbase)
• Familiarity with various operating systems (Linux, Mac OS, Windows)
• Able to utilize unix-based command line interfaces (SSH, filesystem operations, searching)
• Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
• Ability to work independently and with teammates
• Excellent organizational skills
