Turtle Rock Studios is looking for a Lead AI Engineer to join the team and work on our next big AAA title! The ideal candidate is one who is a great team player and is excited to push the limits on what it takes to make a great game!
Responsibilities
- Responsible for maintaining AI quality, while respecting technical limitations and performance targets.
- Provide mentorship and coaching for team members including but not limited to: 1:1s, career developments, performance evaluations, and goal setting.
- Work closely with the Gameplay Tech Director and design teams to craft memorable gameplay experiences
- Author AI behaviors for in-game characters
- Work with design team to create playable spaces conducive to AI interaction
- Revise and tune characters based on design goals and playtest feedback
- Profile and optimize code to meet memory and CPU budgets
- Proactively diagnose and fix bugs in AI and character systems
- Playtest with both the studio and the AI team to review and develop AI characters
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience with one or more shipped titles on multiple platforms
- Strong leadership, mentorship, and teaching abilities
- Comfortable working directly with designers in an iterative environment
- Solid understanding of different aspects of game AI (navigation, behavior, etc)
- At least one shipped game
- Experience developing for modern consoles
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Microsoft Visual Studio
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Solid math skills
Preferences
- Previous work on Multiplayer Action Games and FPS's a plus
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or Engineering
- Unreal Engine 4 experience
- Shipped a console game

The estimated base pay range for this role is:
$140,000—$195,000 USD
