Intermediate-Senior Combat Designer [Star Wars Project]

Job Description
We’re collaborating with Disney and Lucasfilm Games on a new story-driven open-world video game set in the beloved Star Wars galaxy. This is a lore we love and want to do justice with a game and story that bring both new and lifelong fans on an immersive and outstanding journey that will stay with them for years.
As a Combat Designer at Massive, you will create engaging and innovative encounters on our latest Star Wars project. You’ll join an experienced team of Game Designers and also collaborate with AI, Gameplay, and Level Design colleagues. Together you will have a big impact on one of the most loved IPs out there.
In this role, you will, together with the team be responsible for delivering a unique and evocative combat experience. From encounter guidelines, enemy design elements to balancing and tweaking.
This is a permanent position based in Malmö Sweden, with the opportunity to work partially from home according to our Flexible Workplace Policy. Please apply in English (our company language), and we’ll check your application asap!
What you'll do:
- Working closely with design leadership to implement and polish a compelling combat experience
- Designing the guidelines and tools, that set up a large team for success, in creating the game's encounters
- Working with AI-, Gameplay- and Level-design colleagues to balance and implement the combat loop
- Tweaking and polishing aspects of player character, AI, and Level Design to deliver a high-quality experience
Qualifications
What you'll bring
You are excited about games, game development, and the craft of game design. You are innovative and offer creative solutions in the pursuit of your clearly defined goals. You should also be comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team, where you can each utilize your niche expertise to achieve a higher quality together.
Besides the above we’re looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:
- Great communication and coordination skills
- Professional experience in creating high-quality combat experiences in video games
- Experience in creating character action games
