The Instructional Designer will partner with the Learning & Development team to conceptualize, design, and develop interactive learning solutions to support organizational needs and improve business performance.
This is a 3-month contract for a remote, 1099 contract role.
General Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain engaging, competency-based learning programs and instructional materials (instructor-led training, web-based training, jobs aids, reference materials)
- Assess and update existing instructional materials and create new, blended learning materials
- Support foundational in-store training needs by developing train-the-trainer education, facilitator guides, positional training guides, and assessment tools
- Translate written content into visual descriptions (graphics, animations, interactive charts and graphs, video-based scenarios)
- Develop e-learning resources, micro-learning videos, storyboards, scripts, and othertraining materials with targeted learning objectives
- Manage multiple priorities and project deadlines, including tracking project hours
Expected Deliverables:
- Standard Operating Procedures – Define and write a pre-determined number of Standard Operating Procedures to support new store openings
- Sandbox VR Resource Center – Act as project lead to organize and update our online Resource Center in partnership with cross-functional teams
- Sandbox VR Operations Manual – Act as project lead to assess and update the Sandbox VR Operations Manual in partnership with cross-functional teams
- Positional Training Guides – Update and/or create four Learning Plans for in-store positions (Guest Experience Guide, Lead, Assistant Store Manager, Store Manager) that outline position responsibilities, guest interaction scripts, on-the-job training tools and visuals, and training assessments
- Train-the-Trainer Guide – Design and develop a facilitator’s guide to support the training and development of new Store Managers for both new and existing stores
- Templates for Job Aids & Training Resources – Design and deliver templates with a consistent and brand-appropriate graphic identity for job aids, reference materials, etc. (Microsoft Suite and Adobe Creative Suite)
- Launch New Learning Management System – Prepare for the launch our new LMS by assessing built-in HR and compliance training courses and supporting user setup
What We're Looking For:
- B.A. in Instructional Design, Instructional Systems Design, or related field
- At least 2 years of experience developing blended learning curriculum and using eLearning authoring software
- Experience with web-based course management tools and learning management systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Adobe Creative Suite products
- Advanced proficiency in written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a start-up environment that is fast-paced and project-driven
- Exhibit strong problem-solving and business acumen skills
- Experience in retail operations is preferred but not required
- Applicants for this role will be asked to show work samples
Requirements:
- Your own equipment (we will reimburse for approved tools)
- Ability to invoice on a bi-weekly or monthly cadence
