Import/Export Compliance Specialist (12-month contract)
Summary of the role.
Summary of the role. Primarily assist Manager with customs compliance for import/export activities and global operations. Secondary functions include assisting with HTS classification database and other related duties as required.
What You Will Do
- Assist manager and teams set up business operations that are compliant with the relevant customs laws, regulations and policies, as well as other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Research customs and trade compliance requirements in multiple countries.
- Summarize and identify compliance risks; recommend options and solutions.
- Communicate, collaborate and coordinate with teams to adhere to compliance requirements.
- Screen HTS requests and follow up with requestors and/or source teams for needed details.
- Assist with product classification as needed, though not a primary function.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of global HTS classification database.
- Document and record HTS codes and details and compliance notes for TPCi products.
- Assist with import and export shipments as needed.
- Assist with the review and auditing of import entries and electronic export declarations as needed.
- Develop, implement and maintain relevant analytics and reports.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience in import/export customs and trade compliance
- Knowledge of tariff and HTS classification. Customs broker license not required.
- Solid understanding of international logistics and customs compliance
- Must be detail oriented with reliable follow-up ability
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Power Point; Access is a plus)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently or effectively on a team and interact well with others.
