Job Description
The daily life of an IT Operations Manager at Ubisoft Toronto:
Operations & Productivity Management
- Help track and deliver Toronto Local IT's strategic objectives and IT vision set by Canada's IT leader;
- Manage work team activities, especially by following up on requests and department projects that are underway;
- Follow up on departmental objectives;
- Guarantee operational capacity based on studio priorities;
- Supervise technology monitoring project deliverables;
- Guarantee the implementation of departmental processes to enhance the quality of the service and the operational management of incidents and requests;
- Work with the network administrators on mandated infrastructure upgrades and changes;
- Manage clients;
- Ensure the local IT team can deliver all of the following key activities by providing support, guidance, planning, delegation of tasks, prioritizing, and training as required:
- All Service Now tickets ensuring SLA's are respected;
- All onsite and off-site IT hardware and networking managed by Toronto Studio (network switches, NAS, Perforce servers, Asset Stores, firewalls, etc);
- Meeting production requirements including dev kit roll-outs, Build Machine requirements, special ad hoc builds, and support for any other dev-ops infrastructure / future needs planning;
- Deploying all new or repurposed desktops and laptops for new hires, existing employees changing projects or requiring upgrades, etc.
- Manage studio events IT support;
- Tracking IT inventory including hardware that is re-purposed or removed from the studio's IT inventory;
- Software licensing tracking and support.
People Management
- Manage, supervise and recruitment of Toronto Local IT Team Members
- Regular 1 on 1s with each team member ensuring priorities are clear and addressing any concerns they may have. Communicate and track higher level objectives.
- Annual performance reviews for IT Team Members
- Provide all team members with regular progress feedback
- Career progression planning tailored to each member's skills and interests
Budgeting
- Help set out the annual Local IT budget for Toronto and track monthly progress to ensure budget is respected;
- Support the supervisor in budgeting for the team and managing the studio’s software and hardware investments.
Qualifications
What it takes to make it:
- 3-5+ years experience in an IT lead position;
- Bachelor’s degree in management, Information Technology or equivalent education/work experience;
- Proficiency in computer hardware, software, cabling, installation, networking, and security;
- Knowledge of best practices in operational management (ITIL, etc.);
- Team management and mobilizing leadership;
- Organization skills such as multi-tasking, setting priorities, and time management;
- Budget management and optimization skills;
- Analytical thinking, with the ability to effectively problem-solve and adapt;
- Client focused approach with active listening skills.
