KRAFTON is rapidly growing and seeking Legal Counsel who will be full-time in Los Angeles or the Bay Area, California. As Legal Counsel, you will be part of a fast-growing legal department and will report directly to the Head of Global Legal.
IP and Litigation Counsel
Responsibilities:
- Manage and handle all aspects of intellectual property (IP)
- Manage and support IP litigation and pre-litigation disputes
- Guide responses to third-party subpoenas and government requests
- Collaborate with other members of the IP team to identify, register, protect, and enforce company IP, including copyrights, trademarks and domain names
- Conduct IP clearance on company products and services, including trademark, copyright, open source, and domain name clearance
- Review and update various IP guidelines for the company, including branding guidelines, marketing guidelines and legal notice guidelines
- Train and advise Product and Marketing teams on IP guidelines in connection with products, licensing, merchandising, marketing campaigns and consumer-facing content
- Draft, negotiate, advise, and review IP-related agreements including: license, merchandizing, collaboration, and influencer agreements
- Provide hands-on counsel to all levels of the organization and assist in managing the operations of the legal department globally
- Review developments in IP laws and regulations and advise company on impact to the business
- Other relevant legal duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- D. degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar (California Bar preferred)
- 4-7 years of legal experience as a practicing attorney (including at a law firm or in-house experience)
- Experience with litigation, preferably involving technology and IP
- Experience with clearing, protecting and enforcing global trademarks
- Experience with videogame or software technology
- Knowledge of Korean a plus, but not required
- Strong sense of customer support and excellent interpersonal/communication skills
- Team player, analytical, detail-oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
