About the team
At Strivr, the Finance division consists of Financing activities (debt, equity, specialized), Financial Planning & Analysis, and Accounting, with a strong focus on ensuring operational excellence throughout the company. We are a team of passionate, collaborative individuals who have joined Strivr to define the future of learning and make it a reality today. About the role
The Head of Finance will be responsible for driving change and continuous improvement, working closely with the company’s Leadership Team on financial reporting, business planning, budgeting, and creating processes for business efficiency. This is an evolving role with continuous opportunity for growth. Whether you are coming from a startup or corporate background, a successful candidate will appreciate how much of an outsized impact they can make at a smaller organization and will relish the ability to shape their own role and the future of the company.
Your responsibilities:
- This is both a ‘hands-on’ and strategic role, in that it requires the ability to zoom out, define the landscape and drive the efforts to facilitate key decisions
- Partner to the CEO and Leadership Team in capital allocation
- Partner to CEO on all financing activities, including equity, debt, and M&A
- Own monthly FP&A activities including reporting on KPIs, cash forecasting, and reporting to Strivr’s Leadership Team and board of directors on overall business performance.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and reporting processes including detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts and preparation of financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue recognition, inventory, asset tracking, payroll, and tax compliance
- Maintain responsibility for all aspects of people and performance management, including hiring, coaching, and development of the finance and accounting teams.
- Design, implement, and execute a project roadmap for the Finance + Accounting function, which may include process improvement / upgrades and new projects required to support our fast-growing business
- Provide financial business partnership and decision support to various stakeholders
- Build and own relationship with external auditors and global accounting/tax advisors
Your skills:
- 5+ years of FP&A experience, preferably at a startup
- 5+ years of people management experience
- Prior experience at an investment bank, VC, Big 4 accounting firm, and/or high growth SaaS startup
- Excellent knowledge of GAAP and complete understanding of accounting principles and financial statements
- Extensive experience with ERP, FP&A, and CRM systems; knowledge of NetSuite and SFDC a plus
- Strong aptitude and passion for team-building and people management, with an ability to identify, recruit, and develop top talent
- Comprehensive understanding and prior experience with design and implementation of accounting policies and procedures, including SOX compliance and internal controls framework
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, manipulate, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to multitask, think critically, and problem solve structurally in an ever-changing fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent and proven cross-functional and business partnering skills
