ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking an experienced communications associate to join our global communications team to focus on our AppLovin ad tech business. This is an incredible opportunity to partner with an innovative and fun company that is a leader in the mobile apps space. This position offers great potential for growth, so we are looking for a strong strategic communicator with a desire to manage and build media relationships and drive thought leadership in our industry.
As Global PR/Communications Associate, you will report to the Director of AppLovin PR/Communications. You will support the comms strategy, including media relations, thought leadership awards strategies, and beyond. Our ideal candidate is professional, responsible and confident, and possesses interest in developing media relationships, pitching and placing earned stories, developing byline ideas, proactively developing story angles, and executing a media relations program with experience in technology, marketing/adtech and/or mobile apps industries. As a communications associate you will perform well under deadlines, adapt and shift as needed, be thoughtful and detail-oriented, be tenacious and solutions-oriented, and be able to track down reporters and build relationships with them. Overall, you are a key role in our growing communications team and will be offered opportunities to grow and expand your PR muscle.
Responsibilities
- Support Director of Global Communications on all inbound and outbound PR activities
- Assist entire communications team in managing multiple global agencies, including managing agency calls, helping drive strategy, and developing briefings for monthly priorities and specific opportunities in each region/market
- Play a key role in the day-to-day activity of drafting pitches and releases to secure media coverage, monitoring industry trends and competitive moves, and sourcing news-jacking opportunities
- Be a strong writer and serve as support for all written forms of communication (it won’t be your primary job, but we are all flexible and support one another.) There are times you’ll be asked to edit a blog post, create a byline abstract, write an award or speaking submissions or be a second pair of eyes on a product email, etc…)
- Manage award tracking and submissions for the AppLovin business
- Support comms-led speaking engagements and opportunities, which can include speaker prep, messaging and providing feedback
- Proactively and consistently brainstorm and collaborate with the comms, content and social media teams for new ideas and strategies
- Ensure global clippings sheets and weekly project/campaign updates are regularly updated by agencies
Requirements
- Understanding of mobile ad tech industry and/or mobile app industry
- Demonstrated ability to create pitches and sell reporters on new story ideas (with or without corporate news)
- Exceptional copywriting and editing skills
- Tenacious self-starter with a high level of initiative and strong follow-through
- Ability to work independently, take initiative and manage dynamic/evolving media programs
- (Preferred) Proficiency with Google Docs, Asana, Wordpress and HubSpot
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and leadership qualities with the ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities across global teams
- Exhibits sense of curiosity and continually seeks new ways to learn and improve
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, marketing or a related field
