We are looking for an experienced Concept Artist to join our Skate team. This is an opportunity to join us in the early stages of development on a new entry in the Skate franchise. You will report to Skate's Art Director and work in collaboration with content creators working on character style, features, and content creation techniques.

Responsibilities

• You will work with the art director, artists, and designers to create concepts to explore and solve problems visually.

• You will work through a process of refinement, starting with sketches, developing color studies and finishing with refined final paintings.
• You will gather and review needed photographic reference material to add important details and build believability in your concepts.
• You will develop finished pieces of important art at a high level of quality (AAA)
• You will explore color palettes and lighting schemes through quick studies to build readable and believable spaces.
• You will create concepts which explore different clothing designs and ensembles in both greyscale sketch and color.
• You will use articulate vocabulary around art including topics such as: composition, visual design, and color to participate in reviews to improve your work. (English is the required language of work.)
• You will work to several, targeted levels of completeness as determined by the AD for an assignment.

You will demonstrate the following through your resume and portfolio:

• 3 or more years game industry experience
• The ability to work in a range of visual styles and techniques
• Environment and prop production design
• Traditional illustration skills in multiple media and excellent drawing skills
• Fundamental skills including good use of line, light, shadow, and color
• A ability to light/relight a realistic scene convincingly.
• A ability to draw human anatomy.
• A ability to render realistically-styled urban environments and characters.

We will be preferential to candidates with these additional skills:

• Formal art schooling.
• Experience with 3D software such as ZBrush, Blender, Maya to quickly and accurately rough out environment/character layouts and compositions
• An understanding of clothing/fashion trends and ability to sketch clothing shapes.
• Experience in rendering convincing clothing and fabric.
• Experience with storyboard creation & cinematic storytelling
