Gameplay AI Programmer - Permanent

OVERVIEW
London Studio are building an upcoming PlayStation 5 online game from the ground up. Quality is something that we are immensely proud to be striving for, and we are looking at putting the right team together to help take us forward with this brand-new project. New starters will be joining at the perfect time to get involved in shaping our plans for a game we are exceptionally passionate about.
We are also part of a wider network of PlayStation Studios and there are lots of opportunities for collaboration and wider support from our sister studios like Insomniac, Guerrilla, Naughty Dog and Media Molecule to name a few.
We are searching for a Gameplay AI Programmer who is just as passionate about what they do as we are. It is a great opportunity to help shape a product that aspires to be best in class. You’ll be working with designers and the wider studio to develop AI systems and NPC behaviours to deliver studio technology, intended to create high quality exciting gameplay and a rich and rewarding player focused experience.
Scope of Work
- Prototyping new AI features and explore creative ideas with a focus on quality and the player experience.
- Designing, prototyping, developing, documenting, testing, and maintaining highly accessible AI features & systems in close collaboration with other programmers, designers, and animators.
- Design and development of wider gameplay systems, AI related tooling and implementing game content.
- Solving gameplay and AI related issues throughout the team.
- Proactively and methodically improving quality and efficiency.
Experience / Knowledge
- Awareness and some knowledge of various established Game AI methodologies, with particular focus on decision frameworks, pathfinding, and spatial evaluation techniques.
- Awareness of animation and character related technologies.
- Good C++ programming skills. Proficiency in maths and 3D geometry. Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Robust software engineering and software architecture principles. Experience of working with and interfacing to a large codebase, including systems such as: graphics, physics, animation, audio, and networking.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in a small, focused work group and collaborating with a large multi-discipline team. Excellent communication skills, with a passion for practical gameplay development.

Complexity
This is a mid-level role and as such you will ideally have some experience working collaboratively in a team and building AI systems from scratch, whilst also helping to set the standard for Player/AI interactions.

Our roles can be flexible in terms of work location in the UK. We will consider the individual’s preference for hybrid, remote or onsite working. Unfortunately we are not in a position to accommodate remote working outside of the UK.
