Game Quality Assurance Senior Tester

The Senior Tester will primarily be responsible for interfacing with the development team and providing in-depth testing support for their areas. They will use development tools to provide targeted testing based on project needs and the project development schedule. They will also be responsible for evaluating the stability and the overall quality of the experience for their assigned areas. They will be required to attend meetings with developers to provide QA support as needed. They will need to understand the short and long term testing needs for their areas and be able to communicate or escalate concerns in regard to the ability to meet quality standards to the QA Supervisor or development team.
This contract position starts as WFH but post COVID, will transition to being on-site with our client in Kirkland, WA.
The rate is $20.00 per hour (USD)
Contract is through 2021 with possibility of extension
Shift Time: 8am – 5pmRole and Responsibilities:
- Communicates with development, production, and QA teams to provide timely and accurate updates related to the project and immediately escalates critical issues to appropriate stakeholders.
- Provides feedback on the state of the game and testing coverage provided via issues reported in bug-tracking software, timely project status updates, and via e-mail and face-to-face interactions while working with QA Supervisor.
- Create and maintain test cases, test suites, test schedule, and other documentation needed for the successful testing of our game.
- Enforces testing policies, procedures and standards.
- Manages day-to-day activity in the issue tracking database, including routing issues, providing feedback to on bugs and tasks, anticipating usage issues and making recommendations for inclusions/updates to the database administrator.
- Performs other tasks at the discretion of Production or the Development QA Manager
Requirements
- 3 years in software quality assurance in games
- Must have participated in all phases of full-cycle game development and shipped multiple titles
- Experience working within Development Team
- Experience interfacing with Publishing or Outsource QA
- Has a strong eye for details, defects, and complexities.
- Has strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex and/or detailed information clearly across a variety of formats (chat, email, databases, and face-to-face, etc.).
- Has strong interpersonal skills and is comfortable communicating with a wide variety of personalities across a spectrum of disciplines (engineering, artists, designers, producers, publishing QA, management, etc).
- Must be self-motivated and results oriented, able to balance large volumes of work across assigned areas.
- Should possess a combination of strong critical thinking skills and sound judgment to independently handle issues related to their work.
- The ability to complete multiple concurrent tasks in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision under tight deadlines.
- Familiar with creating technical QA documentation, including test plans, test suites, and any other necessary QA documents for game development projects.
- The ability to accurately troubleshoot and identify software and hardware problems and describe the issue to others in a clear and concise manner.
- Knowledge of video games across multiple platforms and genres.
- Strong computer skills including familiarity with all current Microsoft operating systems, Microsoft Word (or equivalent), Microsoft Excel (or equivalent), and Microsoft Outlook (or equivalent).
- Knowledge of basic testing concepts including: Test Case usage, Bug writing, Regression testing, and Ad hoc testing.
- Knowledge of one or more bug tracking databases, including but not limited to: JIRA, Devtrack, Bugzilla, Basecamp, Test Track Pro, or equivalents
