Game Director

You are responsible for the creative vision of a new PvP-first product at Bungie. Your job is to forge the gameplay mechanics, systems, narrative, and social opportunities into a unified whole that sing in harmony. You partner with the Creative, Art, Engineering and Production Directors to create and maintain an exceptional, inclusive, creative environment for the development team.
Your job is to define and promote the pillars and the product design to the team, company, and players from concept through release, while building high levels of alignment and enthusiasm. You are also responsible for leading iteration of the product design based on feedback from peers, company stakeholders, and team members while holding to the core vision.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the creative effort of Project Leadership Team to define clear product pillars for design, art, narrative, and engineering for a new PvP-first game
- Continually vet the product design from an execution, business, and achievability standpoint and adjust as needed, while holding to the core vision
- Define, drive, and strategically iterate on playable prototypes and builds at all phases of a game’s development
- Communicate the game vision across all of the team’s members and partners
- Plan for and drive a strategy for launch and post release support as an integrated part of core development
- Create a powerful design culture based on collaboration, rapid iteration, and high trust
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Have enthusiasm and deep understanding of competitive PvP games and how to innovate around that space
- Are deeply passionate about social and progression mechanics
- Have previous experience at a Director Level or large-org creative leadership level
- Demonstrate the proven ability to formulate and drive full project concepts across all disciplines
- Are a peerless communicator. You can convey a vision quickly, and inspire and unleash the team to execute on it
- Are highly skilled in the “blue sky” phase: ability to handle ambiguity, including effectively leading a team during incubation periods of projects
- Are a contagious collaborator that relentlessly upgrades the vision by drawing on the creative energy and ideas of the larger team and partners
- Build alignment through the Project Leadership Team and collaborate smoothly and in an empowering way
- Are transparent and candid when providing feedback, and keep the Project Leadership Team abreast of any changes or upcoming plans
- Work closely with production to define scope and progress and make responsible use of the team’s time and talents
