Orthrus Studios is currently delivering an exciting title for an established publisher primarily for the PC market.
We are in the business of creating great content and making a difference to our exciting I.P., Distant Kingdoms. As we expand our development team, we want to build out our team to enable our projects to reach new heights of complexity and quality. We are looking for an experienced Designer to join the team.
We need a highly motivated person who gets excited about the finer points of game design, excels at analysing problems and can implement iterative changes with ease. As part of a close team in a vibrant and friendly environment where everyone can grow, learn and deliver high quality games. We want someone who who wants to help shape our existing and future titles.
The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, passionate about multiple areas of design and broad understanding of the games development process.
This role is currently fully remote (Although any application must be legally allowed to work within the UK at time of application) but can transition to either part time in studio or full-time in studio.

Job Specification
Duties and Tasks
- Iterate game balance based upon user feedback
- Feature test the game, taking on feedback from both internal and external sources
- Identify areas of improvement and create a plan alongside the production team to tackle them
- Work closely with both the QA and Programming Departments to test and request changes to features
- Create new features, understand and adapt existing features and help design and prototype new products
- Create new and Maintain existing design documentation within Confluence.

As part of the application pack we would like you to show us your analytical design skills. It is very important that you can break down design issues and come up with solutions to address them.
Please create the following and send in with your C.V. and cover letter.
1. Choose a game you regularly play (ideally something within the City Building/Strategy Genre), identify a feature/mechanic you believe is implemented poorly, in no more than 500 words, tell us why it is bad, and how you would change it for the better.
2. Within the same game, identify an example of a feature or mechanic that has complex balance issues, and tell us how you would approach balancing it.
