Summary:
At Age of Learning, we develop products that are pioneering learning through play. Following the success of ABCmouse, we’ve launched an MMO called Adventure Academy to address the social and educational needs of kids ages 8 through 12. Adventure Academy is filled with educational games and activities in a safe and social 3D environment.
We are currently looking for a Designer with solid Unity experience including content creation, level design, and scripting, to join our rapidly growing team. If you have a background in designing levels for 3D games as well as experience creating content with the Unity game engine, we would love to hear from you!
The ideal candidate will be a mid to senior-level team player with technical Unity problem-solving skills and a passion for 3D-level design for mobile and PC products. Experience in the education field is welcome but not required. We are looking for someone that is confident and capable of working remotely while finding ways to collaborate more effectively while we wait for the office to reopen.
Responsibilities:
- A team player that can contribute to and drive game system designs, 3D level layouts, and content for a children’s (8-12yo) MMO mobile and PC based product
- Work closely with other team disciplines to deliver content and designs that meet requirements established by team leaders and executives
- Make use of best design practices to address business objectives in a timely manner
- Demonstrate creative, innovative, and results-driven mentality
- Responsible for continuing to build upon legacy design while simultaneously expanding upon design systems that result in effective game balance and tuning
- Work within Unity to create levels, quests, and content that involves the use of standard and proprietary object components.
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years shipping online software products
- History of collaborating effectively with product, engineering, and research teams
- Passionate about designing playful and accessible MMO game systems for kids
- Experience extending and working within a design system
- Ability to prototype and document detailed specs to aid in development
- Experience using data to validate game systems and solutions
- Must exhibit level design mastery with experience building content for 3D games
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Unity
- Experience using JIRA and Confluence
- Experience working in an agile environment
- Experience working on massively multiplayer game systems
