Job Description:
We are seeking a creative and passionate Game Designer Intern to contribute to our independent, community-based games. As a Game Designer Intern, you will join a small team empowered to develop innovative and engaging video game experiences. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with 1-2 years of experience or equivalent education to grow their career in the exciting field of game design.
Key Responsibilities:
- Game Conceptualization:
- Collaborate with the development team and leadership to brainstorm and contribute ideas for game concepts.
- Assist in the creation of detailed design documents outlining game mechanics, features, and overall player experience.
- Level Design:
- Design and build game levels, ensuring a balance between challenge and player enjoyment.
- Implement and iterate on level layouts, gameplay mechanics, and interactive elements.
- Game Mechanics Implementation:
- Work with the programming team to implement and fine-tune game mechanics.
- Collaborate on prototyping and playtesting to ensure mechanics are fun, intuitive, and aligned with the overall vision.
- Quality Assurance:
- Participate in playtesting sessions to identify and address bugs, glitches, and gameplay issues.
- Provide feedback on game balance, pacing, and overall player experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Interactive Media, or a related field (or equivalent education).
- Or 1-2 years of experience in game design or a related role.
- Strong understanding of game mechanics, level design principles, and user interface design.
- Proficiency in relevant game design tools and software such as Unity or Unreal.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
