Role Overview:
Our Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team provides strategic and financial partnership to EA’s Leadership team. We achieve this through engaging with our partners to understand our broad strategy, analyzing data, and delivering insights to guide EA’s performance.
The Finance Manager II will provide direct business partnership to and influence the SVP Corporate Communications (Marketing), and VP Creative & Production (Marketing), This role will manage a finance team that provides timely, accurate and insightful reporting and analysis and will be the key leader to drive efficient processes for budgeting and forecasting of expenses, headcount, and capital.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide financial guidance and strategic partnership with specific focus on Corporate Communications (EA Brand, Global Comms and Social Impact), and Marketing Creative, Production, and Strategy.
- Establish and maintain meaningful performance metrics and management reporting to drive accountability and financial transparency.
- Support decision making and manage budget allocation process for portfolio marketing investments, in partnership with Marketing leadership.
- Influence key decisions by understanding the big picture combined with providing underlying deep financial analysis and insight.
- Set control processes in place to manage spending and headcount within plan levels. Set-up and manage financial reviews with business partners every month to analyze results, forecast spending, and headcount
- Proactively anticipate, manage, and report risks and opportunities across the Marketing investment portfolio with specific focus on Media and Creative investments to maintain financial goals.
- Lead a finance team to partner with Corporate Communications and Marketing Creative team understanding specific business objectives for each and actively working as their finance liaison to facilitate their success.
Major Functions & Related Activities
- Align with P&L owners on specific funding proposals
- Partner with leadership to set and manage budgets across all projects and titles
- Provide decision support to leadership on investment and project decisions
- Lead financial reviews with budget owners to develop annual plans and subsequent forecast updates.
- Manage all close activities for assigned departments including identifying and preparing accrual and reclass entries to ensure precise accounting of known activities
- Anticipate risks and partner with the leadership to identify trade-offs to de-risk and maintain financial goals
- Balance priorities, and find creative solutions that achieve results
- Be a thought leader to improve and simplify processes, drive standardization, and build scalable systems to support business growth
- Lead strategic projects and support senior leadership on ad hoc projects
Technical Skills and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or CPA preferred
- Minimum 7 years of related financial experience
- Highly motivated, passionate, self-starter; comfortable interacting with and presenting to senior management
- Experienced people manager to lead finance team and provide executive management support
- A team player able to work collaboratively, within the group and cross-functionally across business units/functions, as a thought leader, project manager, partner, and effective independent team member
- Demonstrated increasing levels of responsibility and independence
- Ability to recommend, manage and drive projects to successful completion
- Demonstrated proficiency in accounting and general GAAP knowledge
- Strong business acumen with understanding of functional linkages and ability to build strong professional relationships with business partners in both operational and financial roles
- Ability to effectively prioritize multiple and sometimes competing demands; comfortable with multiple daily responsibilities requiring attention to detail, self-validation and correction of work produced or reviewed
- Excellent MS Excel and PowerPoint expertise required, knowledge in Anaplan, PBI, and Oracle preferred
