Your mission
Vertigo Games is seeking a Finance Director, reporting directly to the CFO. The Finance Director will be responsible for managing all monthly accounting, reporting, and financial tasks. The right candidate will lead with a hands-on approach and work collaboratively with internal and external teams. The Finance Director will communicate often with senior leadership particularly in regard to financial, KPI reporting, budgeting, forecasting and planning.
As a rapidly growing company, the team is seeking individuals with recent and relevant start-up experience, especially experience in scaling a company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise all operations of the finance and accounting department while coordinating closely with the parent company’s finance department (Plaion).
- Partner with parent company finance department for the month end close.
- Lead the preparation of the financial reporting package and related analytics.
- Analyse monthly operating performance against budget.
- Supervise financial planning and budget functions.
- Develop financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions.
- Propose benchmarks for analysing financial and operating performance.
- Prepare and outline complex models into simple terms with which others can work.
- Analyse trends to reduce financial risks associated with making investment or spending decisions.
- Offer advice to the CFO and CEO regarding spending and budget questions.
- Oversee the annual external audit and act as lead liaison with outside accounting firm.
- Support the preparation of all tax filings.
- Develop relationships with operational departments and provide financial as well as general business support.
Your profile
- Knowledge of analysis and financial software.
- Strong creative skills to develop new and innovative solutions.
- Ability to create and deliver unbiased budget expectations for different departments.
- Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including IFRS.
- 10+ years of finance and accounting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
- Experience with managing a month end close and responsibility for financial reporting.
- Proven experience managing a finance and accounting staff.
- Excellent Excel knowledge and skills.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Excellent mathematical and analysis skills.

- Proficiency in Dutch.
- Proficiency in Dutch sign language.
- Previous experience within a public accounting firm.
- MBA or Masters in Accounting.
- Mergers and acquisitions experience.
