Job Description and Responsibilities
The role of financial analyst is a trusted team member providing sound financial analysis for the Studio Group. You will be working closely with the Group Finance Director and CFO to drive financial efficiencies and best practices, including but not limited to data analysis, reporting and financial modelling. You will also work closely with the team to help enhance and automate our financial processes through our existing and new business systems. Your ability to deliver financial insights will be one of your key passions and strengths. Below is an overview of the role responsibilities.
Analysis and Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts to a high standard
- Develop and implement improvements in planning processes, models and tools
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management reports incorporating financial performance, commentary, and management KPIs
- Variance analysis of actuals vs plan identifying underlying drivers of business performance
- Undertake routine ad hoc analysis of commercial and operational performance to derive genuine insight
- Cultivate close working relationships with multiple business stakeholders across the finance team, studio operations team, people team, marketing team, IT team and leadership teams.
- Assist with the preparation of business cases to support new investment, strategic and other business decisions
- Scenario analysis
- Commercial support
- Ad-hoc reporting and data analysis for company projects.
Business Systems
- Help roll out enhancements to our financial business systems
- Perform system administration support to financial business systems
- Work with finance team to review data integrity within business systems
- Build reports, dashboards and other functionalities within our business systems
- Identify areas to implement improvement and automation within our financial processes.
What you bring to the role:
- You are highly skilled in Google Sheets and / or Excel
- You have worked in a role providing data analysis or reporting
- You are highly numerate with an analytical mind and methodical approach
- You are organised with a strong attention to detail
- You have an understanding of the core financial reports (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow) but you do not necessarily need to be from an accounting background or accounting qualified.
- You enjoy working with systems and data analysis
- You are fluent in English, writing and speaking
- You have an agile mindset
Nice to have experience:
- Xero
- Salesforce
- Kimble
- Tableau or other data analysis packages
- Middleware integration tools such as Tray.io, Zapier ...etc.
- Other language(s) than English would be an advantage
