That’s No Moon is an independent AAA game development studio established in 2021 by veterans of some of the most recognizable and critically acclaimed creative teams in the world, including Naughty Dog, Infinity Ward, Santa Monica Studio, Bungie, PlayStation, and more. A remote-friendly studio with a central office and performance capture stage located in Los Angeles, That’s No Moon is creating the next generation of narrative-driven, genre-defining experiences built upon a culture of creativity, collaboration, responsible production practices, and individual empowerment. We are assembling a diverse team of passionate developers of a wide range of experience levels and backgrounds to help shape the future of our studio and projects.
We are seeking an Environment World Artist with a passion for bringing realistic worlds to life from concept to ship, with a portfolio showcasing a wide range of skills and experience. Working in collaboration with our Art Director and a team of Environment Artists you will have the help set the quality bar, showcasing your world-building abilities with the utmost attention to detail. With your help we will push the industry to new heights of realism, gameplay and storytelling!
Responsibilities:
- · Build polished cinematic and in-game environments, combining photogrammetry and hand-crafted assets.
- · Collaborate with Art and Design leads to build environments that deliver on the gameplay requirements and artistic vision of the game.
- · Own workflow initiatives, such as modular kit construction, terrain processing, and asset pipelines.
- · Provide mentorship to other artists, leading by example in your levels as well as creating documentation and demos of techniques and processes.
- · Work closely with Tools and Tech Art to develop new workflows and improve upon existing ones to streamline efficiency.
- · Ensure assets and levels are performant and fit within necessary budgets at each milestone.
Requirements & Skills:
- · Shown professional experience in world building and asset creation polished to a AAA quality at a Senior level
- · Strong passion for mentoring and a collaborative spirit
- · Deep understanding of and ability to analyze realistic environments
- · Expert understanding of core software such as Maya and Substance
- · Excellent eye for artistic and game composition
- · Strong Maya skills
- · Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
- · Strong understanding of how to build and implement strong shape language for environmental and gameplay composition.
- · (Bonus) Experience in Houdini and procedural content creation
- · (Bonus) Experience or interest in capturing or using scan libraries
- · (Bonus) Fine art background or education
- · (Bonus) Experience with creating or modifying foliage
- · (Bonus) Adept at both modeling and material environment art fields

- · Self-motivated, independent, and able to work well in a multi-discipline team environment
- · Great teammate invested in the success and development of the team able to drive a team focused on one biome/map.
- · Able to communicate optimally, give constructive feedback and direction as well as adapt to creative and art direction.
