Experienced Game Designer

Playground Games is looking for an Experienced Game Designer to join our talented Forza Horizon team here in Leamington Spa.

As a premier first-party Xbox Game Studio, we are passionate about making genre-defining games that are accessible, beautiful, and most of all fun. We are looking to expand our diverse team as we continue driving forward our BAFTA award-winning Forza Horizon franchise.

About the role:

You will work with the Design Director and other designers to design, implement and deliver game systems and content for the BAFTA-winning open-world Forza Horizon franchise. You’ll take on ownership of existing systems and designs, as well as design new ones and champion quality in the game experiences you own. You’ll work with a diverse team of game designers in a collaborative and open team, where high quality player-experiences are our ultimate goal.

This role is based in our state-of-the-art studio in Leamington Spa, with a hybrid work model in place. Relocation assistance is available if required.

What you’ll do:

• Take on existing game systems, learning their intricacies and working to improve them.
• Pitch and design new game systems and experiences.
• Build amazing player experiences in our suite of proprietary tools.
• Work autonomously and collaborate with passionate inter-disciplinary teams to champion quality in your features and experiences.

What you’ll bring:

• Industry experience in game design positions, on shipped AAA titles.
• Experience designing features from broad briefs all the way to detailed implementation
• A genuine passion for video games.
• Optional: A portfolio demonstrating high-quality game design work. This portfolio can be submitted as a link to a portfolio website or added as an attachment along with your CV.
• Experience with open-world games or knowledge of the Forza Horizon franchise is a huge advantage.
