Department overview:
Competitive Gaming is an exciting and burgeoning space within the landscape of gaming. As one of the leaders of the gaming industry, PlayStation is focused on the eSports business both regionally and globally as a part of our strategic outlook on the future of gaming. The Esports and Competitive Gaming Manager will be an important member of this initiative, responsible for not only leading the execution of the UK strategy, but also supporting the Global team in its activations across Europe. This position will touch various aspects of the initiative with a focus on driving and executing regional activities and goals, and promoting PlayStation competitive gaming offering directly to our players.
What you’ll be doing:
Lead contact for PlayStation Esports in the UK region:
- Leads the Esports UK information flow and communication campaigns regarding all ESCG activations.
- Creates tournament activations that are locally relevant for the UK audience, and is heavily involved in bringing them to market.
- Responsible for seeking opportunities in the UK market with the intent of furthering the goals of the PlayStation eSports program globally and locally
- Manage eSports relations with internal departments, specifically, working closely with Platforms, services and content marketing teams, corporate communications and publisher relations in order to ensure success of the UK program
Managing and executing campaigns for Esports programs in the region, reporting into the European Esports Product Manager:
- Create, execute and report on communications plans for Esports activities in the European region, designed to drive sign ups for our competitive activations on PS5 and PS4, and attract viewership to events streamed online.
- Develop creative assets with internal and external agencies, ensuring distribution and implementation on PlayStation and/or partner channels by liaising with relevant stakeholders.
- Oversee and support development of the PlayStation Esports Player Relations Program in the European region
- Support Esports live events planning and execution
What we are looking for:
- 2-4 Years videogames/entertainment/sports marketing experience.
- Bachelor's degree, and/or equivalent experience preferred
- Highly organized. Ability to balance multiple priorities and maintain strong attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-function teams positively
- Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
- Self-starter with sense of humor, passion, energy, enthusiasm to get results and affect meaningful change
- Strong interest in video games and entertainment
- International travel and flexible hours may be required
- Naturally curious, and eager to try and test new things.
- Proficient English required, other European languages beneficial
