What we're looking for...
An environment artist at MELON will create both high-quality and immersive worlds for our experiences while working within technical constraints and art direction. They are comfortable communicating with leads and other world designers to ensure cohesion in assets and level art. They are also proactive in solving problems and passionate about contributing ideas to improve the overall look of the project.
What you'll be doing...
- Have extensive knowledge of what it means to work in a game level editor and the effort required for asset population and implementation
- Creating a living game-world with highly compelling 3D environments and props
- Dress the world - use the assets provided to fully realize a space and tell an interesting and varied story
- Cooperating with the Head of Studio and Art Leads to maintain artistic consistency and vision for the experiences while building Epic levels and scenes regarding the layout and style of game environments
- Design and create 3D game environments based on concepts and game design documents
- Work collaboratively with game designers and technical artists to understand and interpret design requirements with technical and performance constraints
- Keep an artistic style consistent with defined visuals and references
What you should have...
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Background in Art preferred with a good sense of mood, color, and spatial balance
- Strong creative vision and the ability to share it
- Ability to work independently in a team environment, as well as seek help from others when needed
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral
- Knowledge of 2D & 3D software (3DSMax, Maya, Blender, Photoshop, Etc ..)
- Solid knowledge of the gaming industry, how games work, and the latest trends
- Understanding game production workflow and systems preferred
- Excellent communication and critical thinking skills; ability to identify and solve key problems creatively with minimal guidance.
Bonus Qualifications...
- Substance experience is a plus
- AAA experience is a plus
- Experience with the Roblox Platform
