Job Description:

Our team is seeking a highly motivated, positive, and technical Engineerin g Manager to support our engineers and engineering culture.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for facilitating each engineer's career development, motivating and monitoring the engineers, working with the Technical Director and Engineering Leads to evaluate their performance, and providing coaching and counseling as needed.

The Engineering Manager also partners with the Technical Director to grow and develop future engineering leaders.

Responsibilities

Develop an interpersonal relationship with all engineers: know their personalities, strengths, and weaknesses.

Support the professional goals and development opportunities for the entire engineering staff.

Facilitate communication and feedback between engineers and the engineering team leadership.

Provide coaching (IDPs, mentoring, one-on-ones) and counseling (PIPs, other corrective actions) for engineers as needed.

Monitor and review each team member’s progress.

Grow and develop engineering department managers to be excellent people managers.

Organize regular performance appraisals with the engineering team leadership.

Assist production and team managers with work assignment suggestions.

Plan and execute relevant training activities for engineering team.

Coordinate recruitment. Assist the engineering department with resumes, phone screening, and interviews. Develop the recruiting process, and proactively seek new avenues for engineering recruitment.

Requirements

Experience managing, coaching, and mentoring engineers or other technical developers

Exceptional attention to detail and follow-up

Experience with staffing and team building

Good cross-disciplinary communications experience between engineering, production, design, and art

Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative

A passion for video games

Pluses

Degree in management, computer science, engineering, or equivalent professional training

Knowledge of various project management methodologies and practices
