What you’ll do as an Intern

We currently have internship opportunities in two engineering focus areas, BackEnd Engineering or Frontend Engineering. For each area you’ll have an opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team to design and build the best possible chess experience using the most relevant software or data engineering principles.

• Degree-seeking student currently enrolled at a college or university or equivalent bootcamp

Current Opportunity: BackEnd Engineer, Intern

What you'll do

• Build and optimize backend systems, scaling for a global top 200 website
• Contribute to technology, architecture, workflow, and design decisions
• Contribute to the backend development team knowledge-base

Preferred Skills

• Training, relevant coursework or experience with:
• General purpose programming languages (PHP preferred)
• Web application frameworks (Symfony & Laravel preferred)
• Relational databases (MySQL preferred)

Current Opportunity: Frontend Engineer, Intern

What you’ll do

• Build pixel perfect, responsive user interfaces with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Optimize performance by improving Core Web Vitals
• Improve quality and prevent defects with automated end-to-end testing

Preferred Skills

• Training, relevant coursework or experience with:
• Javascript/Typescript
• component architectures such as Vue, React, Svelte (Vue preferred)
• CSS and preprocessors like SASS

About the Opportunity

• This is a 3 month internship opportunity (depending on your availability)
• We are 100% remote (always have been, always will be)
• This is open to applicants who are authorized to work in the USA
