Engine Programmer C++ (onsite/ remote)

Abstraction is a Dutch game development studio known for technically challenging projects and for providing support for AAA publishers for the last 16 years. We have 90+ employees and plans to grow by another 30% this year. We are currently working on an unannounced game and have co-development partnerships with companies such as Bioware/EA, 343/Microsoft and more. We are privately owned, and the executive team has over 100 years of combined experience in the game industry.
As an Engine programmer, you are responsible for building the technology behind our games. It includes writing code for new engine features, optimizing existing features, and adapting features to new games and platforms.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Design and implement new engine features in C++
- Maintain, debug and optimize existing engine features
- Adapt existing engines to support new platforms
- Write high-quality code while meeting project deadlines
- Report to your Lead Programmer and Producer
- Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team
What You Will Bring:
- 2+ years experience in a similar position or have shipped at least one title
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Excellent programming skills in C++
- Experience with low-level Engine programming
- Ability to effectively navigate large codebases
- A proactive, self-motivated, and positive team-oriented attitude
- A demonstrable desire to learn and grow professionally
- Strong English communication and writing skills
What Separates The Best From The Rest:
- Experience in working with UE4 or UE5
- Experience in cross-platform development for Console and PC
- Experience in optimizing code for consoles or PC
- Experience in porting games
- Experience in the Console Certification process (TCR, XR, Lotcheck)
- Experience working on AAA titles
- Passion for creating great games
