Crytek is looking for a passionate and experienced Editor to join the
Hunt: Showdown Narrative Design team full time. The successful candidate will become a key member of our narrative team and will play a pivotal role in maintaining quality and consistency across all IP texts. If you love horror fiction and video games; are a proactive, organized, and flexible team player; a skilled communicator; an experienced editor, proofreader, and/or copy-editor; and a total grammar nerd, we look forward to seeing your application.
The Editor is the defender of the quality bar for all written texts, both inside and outside of the game.
Relocation & Remote Work
Although we believe living close to our studio helps foster team spirit and stronger bonds between team members, we understand that people have different needs and expectations for their place of residence. You have a choice of three location options, allowing you to work with Crytek from anywhere you wish:
1. Come to our modern headquarters in Frankfurt and receive an attractive relocation package and have access to all of our benefits.
2. If you are already living in a European Union member state, we are able to offer you a permanent work contract and allow you to work remotely as an employee from there.
3. If you are interested in full-time remote work in any other country outside of the European Union, we can offer you a freelance contract arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Champion quality and consistency across all IP texts - inside and outside of the game;
- Create and maintain a master glossary of terms, ensuring consistent useage;
- Proofread and edit all in-game texts for grammar, consistency, terminology, IP tone, and style - in collaboration with the Narrative Department;
- Proofread and edit all out-of-game texts for grammar, consistency, terminology, IP tone, and style, in collaboration with Marketing, Publishing, and Creative Services - this can include anything from Socomms posts to blogs to videos;
- Ensure clean copy, consistent tone and terminology is used in all IP materials;
- Feedback to writers on grammar, consistency, style, tone, story, etc.
Requirements
- Has a deep knowledge of Hunt: Showdown, or willingness to learn;
- Understands industry-standard terminology and its usage;
- Has extensive experience proofreading, copy-editing, and editing;
- Has excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Has experience and skill in writing horror fiction;
- Can provide feedback with clarity, kindness, and grace;
- Brings awareness of the horror genre, and gaming specifically;
- Has experience maintaining style guides, character indexes, and story timelines;
- Is handy with Microsoft Office Tools (i.e, Word, Excel, etc.).
