Economy Designer

HB Studios is a driving force in the creation of sports games and the studio behind PGA TOUR 2K Golf – presently working on PC and Consoles. We have an opportunity for an Economy Designer who is passionate about the art and process of game development to join our studio!

As an Economy Designer, you will work with a team of professionals to craft economy, progression and rewards experiences for one of the fastest growing sports game series in the industry!

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Design Lead and development teams to design and build features that increase acquisition, retention and monetization; support the game's vision; and respect our players.
• Research and work with internal teams to stay current with the changing player analytics and market trends.
• Drive the design, modeling and improvement of in-game economy, progression and rewards throughout production and into live operations.
• Shepherd features through implementation, and perform hands-on work; including playtesting, tuning, data entry, content creation, and scripting.
• Provide feedback on all aspects of the design and development processes to improve the ultimate quality and success of the game.
• Conceive and communicate ideas while effectively soliciting and managing feedback during pre-production, prototyping, and development.
• Contribute to our growing philosophy of game design and how we make games.
• Provide mentorship to less experienced team members.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

• Typically a minimum of 2 to 4+ years of experience in game design.
• Experience designing and maintaining economy or progression systems for one-or-more shipped games in the AAA or live games space.
• A proven track record in modeling game economies, with a strong accuracy against the live results.
• A reliable and collaborative teammate with the ability to work independently.
• A strong cross-discipline communicator, both verbal and written.
• Unity game engine and scripting experience considered a plus.
