EMEA Head of Communications

Gearbox Publishing Amsterdam is looking for an EMEA Head of Comms to establish and lead the growing comms team and spearhead the communications efforts for our current and upcoming titles. The ideal candidate is a true gamer and an ambitious PR-veteran with years of experience in the videogames industry. The Head of Comms is capable of building a best of class team, define and oversee European focused strategies to increase awareness in the region.
The candidate knows what it takes to set up PR campaigns from both a local perspective as well as a broader EMEA and global viewpoint. He/She/Them easily combines gaming industry knowledge with the latest trends to drive creative and innovative ideas across all comms channels including PR, social media, events, influencer marketing and content creators. The role will also be responsible for monitoring campaign performance across all communication channels. The candidate has a strong point of view on how to make the best use of our communication capabilities and grow awareness. He/She/Them also understands the importance of analytics and can determine how to use metrics to optimize campaigns and demonstrate ROI.
Strong interpersonal skills are required as the role will closely work with stakeholders across different disciplines, locations and departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES & JOB DUTIES
- Establish and manage a best of class EMEA comms team.
- Conceive and manage the overall EMEA owned and earned comms strategy, including PR, social, community, content creators and influencers.
- Build constructive working relationship with your counterparts in Dallas and San Francisco.
- Budget responsibility for all comms activities.
- Establish working relationship with key stakeholders, including development, marketing and creative.
- Determine the kpi’s for comms campaigns and monitor the ROI. Analyze performance and determine actionable next steps to optimize performance to meet or exceed campaign goals.
- Select and manage relevant PR events together with your team.
- Play milestone builds of games in development and provide analysis and long-term strategic thinking to the product management team, through the lens of comms opportunities.
- Lead by example and be a motivator and inspiration to your team. Be fearless and motivate the cross-functional marketing groups to buy into the brand vision to develop and execute effective marketing activations.
REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years of demonstrable video game PR/comms experience, including management roles and responsibilities.
- Proven track record of multiple successful game launches, both at a local as well as an international level.
- Experience with contributing to go-to-market plans, capable of adding comms related ideas and perspectives to ensure messaging is clear, concise and captivating.
- Experience developing post-launch comms plans a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to pitch ideas and persuade key stakeholders and senior management.
- Experience setting up and executing PR and consumer events.
- Highly proficient in written and spoken English. Command of a second language is a plus.
- Passion for PC and console games.

LOCATION AND WORKING HOURS
- The Head of Communications is a full-time position (40 hours per week) onsite in our Amsterdam office.
