Director of Security Engineering

Who We Are:

2K develops and publishes interactive entertainment globally for console systems, handheld
gaming devices and personal computers, including smartphones and tablets. 2K is a leading
publisher of today’s most popular gaming genres and is most well-known for critically acclaimed
game franchises like NBA 2K, WWE 2K, Bioshock, Borderlands, Evolve, XCOM, and the
beloved Sid Meier’s Civilization.

What We Need:

2K is looking for an experienced Director of Security Engineering to lead and grow our security
engineering team. You will manage a global team of high performing engineers to evolve our
existing security infrastructure and to implement new tools and technology where needed. You
will have the experience and expertise to identify technology gaps and to create and execute on
both short and long term plans to remediate those gaps. While experience in traditional security
devices like firewalls and IDS systems is important, so is understanding new infrastructure
paradigms where traditional security devices either don’t work or are impractical.
While technical skills and experience are important, the ability to work together with other teams
is equally critical. You will work with leaders and engineers across the technology teams to
understand their needs and work together to find secure solutions to whatever challenges arise.
You understand that the security team will only be successful through partnership and
cooperation with all other teams.

What You Will Do:

● Lead the 2K team of Security Engineers, providing direction, mentorship, and
organization.
● Grow the Security Engineering team to keep pace with the company as well as every
increasing external threats.
● Develop and execute on long term strategic security goals while being responsive to the
day to day security needs of the company.
● Work closely with the Security Operations team, delivering tools and visibility across a
global footprint serving millions of players.
● Collaborate with the entire technology organization to provide security architectural
guidance and standards.

Who We Think Will Be a Great Fit:

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in security engineering and running a team of
highly technical engineers. They will have experience in the technology or gaming industries
and an understanding of how to secure on premise, cloud, and container based infrastructure.
They will possess the ability to not only understand complex security issues, but to
communicate them in a clear way to other non-security engineers and technical staff.

The Director of Security Engineering will be comfortable in a fast paced agile environment
dealing with both upgrading and maintenance of current security tools. They will also balance
the team's priorities so that long term strategic goals are accomplished while still being
responsive to the day to day needs of the organization.

● They bring with them a minimum of 10 years of experience in security with at least 5
years leading a team of engineers.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simply communicate
complex security topics.
● A track record of successfully implementing network security solutions (Firewall/IDS/etc),
endpoint security software (AV/EDR), and security specific systems (SIEM, Vulnscanner, 2FA, etc)
● Knowledge of containers, infrastructure as code, and modern configuration management
patterns
● Experience in the technology or gaming industry is highly desired.
● Experience securing global large scale distributed systems.
● Experience with securing on-premise, cloud, and hybrid deployments.
● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent
practical experience.
